Jests on the part of Fate

In these brilliantly written short stories with at least one masterpiece (`The Immortal Story'), Isak Dinesen illustrates in powerful and colorful brushes the role of `Fate' in human life. Life is turned into a theatre (a comedy or a tragedy) and theatre into life (`Tempests'). There are victims of Fate, but also `Fate makers'. And, in any case, `let good fortune be even so sweet, it takes strength to bear even that.'

Man and Fate
(People) `tremble before making choices in life, and after having made them again tremble in fear of having chosen wrong'. For, `Ay, that which we rejected is poured upon us abundantly.'
Man is not a fish (`The Diver'): `Man is alarmed by the idea of time, and unbalanced by incessant wanderings between past and future. The inhabitants of a liquid world have brought past and future together in the maxim: après nous le déluge'.

Fate makers
In `The Diver', the powerful see inventions and great dreams as dangerous revolutions. `If indeed the flying boy meets and communicates with angels, what new and revolutionary things the angels may tell him?'
In `The Immortal Story', an old and rich trader tries to turn the immortal story of the sailor who was paid to make love, into reality. Because, `so are the poor jumping-jacks in the hands of the rich, the fools in the hands of the shrewd. They dance and drop as these hands pull the strings.'

A "Band of Brothers" of the air war.

If you liked "Band of Brothers", you will enjoy this read. The Mighty 8th lost more men than any other combat unit during WWII and this is great history. It is a band of brothers in the air. Since my father was a B-17 pilot, this was of special interest to me.

Thoughts are inseparably related to breathing. So, when the number of breaths is reduced, thoughts are reduced proportionately. Eventually, with the tranquilization of breath, thoughts are dissolved. Thereby, the seeker can attain the After-effect-poise of Kriya, or eternal Tranquility, which is Amrita, nectar proper.

Stay away! It is not a manuel!

This is no manuel (as the subtitle suggests)l!
It is from the same person as the Kriya Yoga core principles book. (which it seems to include)
It is just describing the science behind kriya. But one can get this from numerous other books out there. There are only some techniques described (very basic) and these techniques are described in a "mysterious" way and not a clear way. It has absolut no value as a manuel.
And charging such a high price for giving away nothing new seems to me not a good thing.
If you want to read about techniques i recommend JC Stevens "Kriya Secrets revealed" (which is a real manuel) or go to Ennio Nimis online book (for free). Also good is Kriya Yoga: the science of life force. It teaches complete first and second kriya according to the authors lineage.

This is an Incredible and Most Practical (sometimes mysterious but simple) Book on Kriya Yoga and Kriya Scriptures. I am sure this book will become a Classic Authentic Kriya Yoga Book. Khechari and Pranayam are emphasized everywhere in great detail. As a boon, esoteric scriptures are explained in the light of Kriya Yoga. I will recommend buying it for every serious Kriya Yoga Practitioners even if the price is $1000. This is a Life Changer Book based on Breath which can be practised easily 24 x 7 !!!

Great Book! Highly recommended!

This is probably one of the best books ever written about wireless hacking. I really loved it! The book contains the required background and thirty attack scenarios. Every scenario is explained with details and well designed figures. I totally recommend this book to everyone interested in wireless security.

Finally a book written for people seeking for hands-on learning. All the books I’ve read in the past wasted my time with endless background about wifi security and hacking techniques that were shortly explained. This book is totally different. The attacking scenarios are explained using clear to understand and detailed step by step guides. Excellent training approach! I totally recommend this book.

Invisible Planets: fortunately these gems have not been invisble for some time now. All of the collected stories have been published (in translation) before in well known periodicals. Now they are one piece. Don’t know, what is to be expected? That’s because this is Sense of Wonder!
For a long time undisclosed to the english speaking readership, there has been a whole world of SF in China, which Ken Liu (The Grace of Kings), translator of all the stories in this book, finally reveals. Want to know what happened in the Year of the Rat, or how to fold a city like Beijing? Take this up and be astounded.
Yet what Liu claims in his foreword to the edition is, that this is not about what makes these SF stories chinese, but what about these chinese stories is worth to be known to non-chinese speaking SF-readers, and the answer is: all of it.
Stories by: Chen Qiufan, Xia Jia, Ma Boyong, Hao Jingfang, Tang Fei, Cheng Jingbo, and, last but not least, the much lauded Cixin Liu (The Three-Body-Problem).
What IS to be expected is the full range of fiction, from the social approach to science and future, up to Hard SF. Also additional nonfiction (namely three essays), which makes this all the more a milestone in global SF history.
And about the hard work, Ken Liu put into this? As they say: it takes a master to translate masters. Liu is a master, quod erat demonstrandum.

Fantastic anthology exposes readers to the greats of Chinese SF

Invisible Planets is an incredible collection of science fiction stories from mainland China. Each of the stories is a gem, multifaceted, beautiful and utterly unique. What you perceive depends on the angle from which you look at it. So many wondrous places and amazing characters. What all of the stories have in common is their ability to enthrall the reader and excite the imagination.

If you enjoy short science fiction, this is an anthology that you must add to your collection. You won't be disappointed by the quality and the variety of the pieces included. The opportunity to explore the perceptions of writers long unavailable to the English speaking public is an added bonus.
